Referral service, not a contractor. Prevent Home Leaks does not perform plumbing, leak repair, or water damage restoration. Calls to (855) 555-0100 are connected to an independent, licensed local provider, who may pay us for the referral. Always confirm the provider's license and get a written estimate. How this works
Finding irrigation and sprinkler leaks
Irrigation leaks are often invisible: a cracked lateral line or a weeping valve can waste water for months.
Signs
- Soggy spots, unusually green patches, or water at the curb
- Heads with weak spray or geysers
- A higher bill in irrigation season
Meter check
- Turn off all indoor water and the irrigation controller.
- Watch the meter's leak indicator (how).
- Close the irrigation system's own shutoff valve. If the meter stops, the leak is in the irrigation system.
Common failure points
- Broken heads (often from mowers or vehicles)
- Valves that don't fully close, so water seeps from the lowest head
- Cracked pipe from freezing or roots
- The backflow preventer after a freeze
In freezing climates, have the system winterized each fall.
